EXALTED RULER'S MESSAGE
As the Elk year closes on the 31st of March and the new year opens on April 1st, I would first like to thank all the officers and members who helped me throughout the past year to make the lodge successful and charitable and another thank you for electing me to be the Exalted Ruler for 2018-2019.  Let’s all work together to bring the lodge forward into another great year in Elkdom, this being not only the 150th anniversary of the order but the 40th anniversary of the Brookville Elks Lodge. I hope that all of you come to our lodge soon and see the things we are doing.  The new bar is progressing. We have started to apply for the permits that we need from the building department to start construction. As always any donations for the bar would be appreciated.  In closing, I would not have had such a successful year if it were not for the endless help and support of my loving wife Jennifer.  Thank you, sweetheart, for being by my side this year as Exalted Ruler and for the last 49 yrs of being my best friend.  Let’s all work hard to make Brooksville Lodge 2582 the best lodge in all of Elkdom.

Larry White, P.E.R.

HOUSE COMMITTEE MESSAGE
Greetings from the House Committee.

When spring comes, it comes with new leaves on the trees, new grass, new flowers, an end to winter, and a new beginning.  Our Elks’ calendar also starts in spring and with it a new beginning and a chance to put the past behind us and start fresh.  This past year we have lost some wonderful members, and have also gained some new members.  We will cherish the memories of our lost members and look forward to making new memories with our new members.
For the last year, the House Committee has put off the inevitable decision; that decision being raising dinner prices and drink prices. Anyone who has been grocery shopping knows how much prices have risen.  The decision to raise our prices a bit was made with much regret, but also with necessity. Our Friday dinners will now be $12.00, but we will keep the steak dinner at $12.00 for as long as we can. We work very hard to make delicious home cooked dinners and bring entertainment to the lodge.  We hope to count on continued member support of these events.  We thank all of you for your support.  We thank you all for your support and understanding of this decision.
There has been talk for a year about building a new bar. Finally we are closer to getting it done. To help defray some of the cost, we will be having a "Raising the bar" fund raiser on June 23rd.  The cost per ticket will be $30. Included will be dinner, a free raffle ticket, and open bar for 2 hours for well and draft drinks only.  Midlife Crisis will be here that night for entertainment.  This is still in the planning stage, so we will provide more details as we move along with it.
Don't forget our evening picnic on April 28th, featuring Pauly Gee!  Bring a folding chair if you'd like to sit by the bonfire!!!
God bless.

A note from your Leading Knight

Hello again everybody. Well here we are in our last month of our fiscal year. How time flies.
April is a busy month for us. Changing of the guard so to speak, new officers coming in, and several other events.
April 14th is our first annual indoor/outdoor yard sale fund raiser. Indoor tables are $25.00 and outdoor tables are $20.00….bring a tent if you like. Tables should be reserved in advance. Call the lodge for details at 352 799 7148. Set up is on Friday, the 13th. Doors will open early to the public.
April 28th is our summer kick off gala out back with Pauly G, food and drinks and weather permitting, a bonfire. Bring a chair. Cost is $7.00 per person payable in advance or at the door. Food will be available and it will start around 4pm ish. See the bartender or call the lodge for details.
We also have our regular stuff like steak shoot and spaghetti supper the first Saturday of the month, karaoke and lunch on Tuesdays and Angelo on the first Friday night with dinner. Keep your bulletin calendar handy.
Please join us for these and other functions. We guarantee you’ll have a fun time and meet new friends.
In other news, the installation of the sump pump out back to help alleviate flooding is complete. Let’s keep our fingers crossed and hope it works.
We want to paint the great hall soon but we need your input as to the colors and such. There are five choices from which to choose. Stop in soon and pick your two favorite colors, write them down and give it to the bartender. When the time comes to paint, we will use the most popular two colors picked.
We are making progress on building the new bar but we need a lot of help as far as the cost. We are aiming toward a goal of twenty thousand dollars, part of which will go for new carpet and other floor covering, the paint, new coolers, custom built cabinets and the like. Please visit us and make a donation toward this good cause.
Until next time, may God bless all of you.

Phil Rafferty – E.L.K.
