EXALTED RULER'S MESSAGE

We had a great month of July at the lodge.  The dinner on the 1st of July and the steak dinner on the 15th were a great success.  I would like to thank Dennis Craven for cooking the pulled pork and the steaks to order for both dinners. We had Angelo on the 7th and the people who volunteered to cook and work in the kitchen did a fantastic job.  Hats off to all of them for their great work.  I would like to commend Jennifer White for again chairing the Wreaths Across America fund raiser party the 22nd. She put together another great party, food and entertainment program. Jennifer and Suzanne Craven Pace worked countless hours going to local businesses for donation of items to do the silent auction at Wreaths. As we go into August I hope you all come out and attend some of the functions we are going to be having at the lodge and enjoy all the great meals that our volunteers are making. I will again say to all of you that your lodge misses you when you are not here. So come on in have a cold drink and see old friends and make some new friends with members you haven't met before.

HOUSE COMMITTEE MESSAGE

The House Committee has been working hard trying to get our lodge going with new and exciting things for our members to enjoy.  Hopefully, in the next issue we will have something more definite to share with you.  Our Steak dinners have been a big hit with great entertainment.   We thank each and everyone who came out to make it a success.  Hope you can make the next one which will be on August 19th.  We have a great time. 
Don’t forget our Steak Shoot on the first Saturday of each month followed by our Spaghetti Dinner.   Hopefully you can win & take home some of the delicious rib eye steaks.
The Wreaths Across America fund raiser was a big success again. If you missed it you missed a great time.  Midlife Crisis did a wonderful job as did the Legion Express.  Hats off to Jennifer White who did a wonderful job of planning and putting everything together along with her volunteers. 
Watch our future newsletters for upcoming events. We will be having a Labor Day Cookout this year so make sure you save that date.  As always we would love to hear from you and what you would like to see going on with our lodge.   Our house committee meetings are every 2 weeks at 7:00 p.m. (on the calendar). Soon the snow birds will be back and things will get busy.  If you haven’t furnished an email address to the Secretary please do so we can keep you informed if something comes up during the month.  Look forward to seeing you all around the Lodge...

A Message from your Leading Knight
Greetings All,
Well folks, there is a lot of stuff going on around here. I want to first let you all know there are many fund raising events planned for the coming months so please mark your calendars as they are announced and, please read your bulletins for the latest updates.
 As you know, events we sponsor, not only help us with our charitable efforts, but also help keep our doors open and the lights on. So far this (fiscal) Elk year, your generosity and participation in the events and dinners and so forth have helped us make some very necessary repairs and improvements to the building and grounds, including new, brighter lighting in the parking lot. Thank you so much!
By the way members, if you missed out on the July 22nd fund raiser last month for Wreaths Across America, (Christmas in July), you missed a fantastic day of food, dancing entertainment, good cheer and comradeship. There was a poker run in the morning featuring the Eagle Riders, (which by the way netted us a $1000.00 donation) then not one, but two fantastic bands that performed throughout the day, Midlife Crisis and Legions Express, most entertaining! A silent auction with awesome prizes, donations from sources some of us (me) has never heard of and…I want to take a moment to thank Jen White, (event chairperson and house committee member) and all of her “elves” for making “Christmas in July” a total success. As of this writing, I do not have the numbers of success but I promise they will be posted next month and I can tell you, they will be awesome…one of the share the wealth drawings alone netted the winner $160.00...of which $100.00 dollars was donated back to our cause! HOW COOL IS THAT.
Coming up, we have Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Halloween, Christmas and other events (actual dates to be announced well in advance)  and our annual “semi-formal” New Year’s Eve party is in the planning stages, not to mention the regular things like, Karaoke on Tuesdays with Clay and Sheila, a served lunch from 12 – 3:30 pm, our first Saturday of the month steak shoot at 3pm. and spaghetti dinner at 5pm,   steak night on the third Saturday of every month, Friday night suppers at least once a month with entertainment, and, we are going to start a new game of chance very similar to Queen of hearts….open to MEMBERS ONLY, Plus, we want to get a Saturday night karaoke started but we need your input…more to come.
Since the New Year’s Eve party this year is hosted by yours truly and my “elves”, we have some really cool ideas to make it a party you won’t soon forget. I would ask that you get your tickets well in advance so our cooks can plan and execute a perfect dinner.  Dinner tickets are limited to 120 “dinner” seats and “entertainment only” tickets (that is if you want to come but don’t like prime rib) are limited to twenty seats only. There will be no alternate entrees. That pretty much brings us to our seating capacity so get your tickets early. There will be door prizes, drawings, raffles, a silent auction, surprises I won’t reveal, live entertainment and more. Tickets go on sale on August 1st. $35.00 per single, $65.00 per couple, $20.00 per entertainment only. Till next time…
